Sri Annapoornna Sthothram – Sri Annadhakalpam – Lyrics and meanings

Sri Bhrama Bhairava speaks “  Oh! Devesha/Lord of Lords, who undertakes strict austerities and penances/Suvratha and most efficient and has profound knowledge in Veda and sacred scriptures, kindly narrate the sacred hymns praising the splendor and sacred armor of Goddess Sri Annapoornna.”


Sri Shiva speaks “I shall narrate the sacred hymns praising the splendor and sacred armor of Goddess Sri Annapoornna to please her; I shall describe them attentively for you. It should be started with the recitation of glorious syllable ‘Hreem’ karam, and ends with ‘Swaha’, Sapthadhashakshara should be recited in order to  purify the seat of Goddess Sri Maheshvari, I shall always meditate upon Goddess Sri Annapoornna who is ShivA/consort of Lord Shiva, she has the effulgence of sun in the early hours of dawn, kindly be present in the divine grains in our homes, she symbolizes the sacred syllables of ‘Hreem’ kara, her face has the resemblance to lotus flower, she is decked in crescent moon on plait of hair close to her beautiful forehead, she is beloved of  Eshvara, I shall always prostrate before the lotus feet of Goddess Sri Annapoornna which symbolizes all kinds of richness.  I shall prostrate before Goddess Sri Annapoornna who is the daughter of Mount Himavan, I shall prostrate before Kamanthakavallabha/ beloved of Kamanthaka who destroyed Lord Kamadeva, I shall prostrate before Pankeruhalochana who has beautiful eyes resembles to lotus flower petals, I shall prostrate before supreme Goddess who is decked in crescent moon on her forehead/Shashibhooshana,  I shall meditate upon Goddess Sri Annapoornna who carries pot of nectar on  left hand and golden vessel full of rice with ladle on the right hand, she is supremely gorgeous, she is beloved of Lord Gireesha, her eyes has the resemblance to lotus flower petals.  I shall meditate upon Goddess Sri Annapoornna who is Ambika, she carries gem decorated vessel which is full of nectar on the left hand, she carries lotus flowers on the other hand, she carries vessel full of various precious gem that spreads intense luster with a gem studded ladle on the right, she is attired in crimson colored majestic silk garment, her large and high raised bosom is decorated with various precious ornaments, she has three eyes, her face has the luster of full moon.  Oh! Annapoornne, Oh! Bhagavathi, kindly protect us from the miseries and sorrows of worldly existence, we have worn out of worldly bondage of children/son and daughter, wife, excessive desire for accumulation of wealth etc.. Kindly shower your nectar like auspicious grace on most confused/puzzled/bewildered intellect of us, Oh! Sakalabhuvanamatha who is the Mother of all the living beings in the Universe, kindly protect us.  I shall surrender to the lotus feet of Maheshvari who is safest heaven resembles to wish fulfilling creeper, she eradicates the worldly existence and repeated births of the worshiper, she is Bhavani, she appease the afflictions caused by hunger, I shall prostrate before Girirajakanya who is the daughter of Mount Himavan,  kindly eradicate sufferings of poverty,  kindly shower nectar like mercy on us and kindly provide supreme intellect and intense devotion to surrender at your lotus feet, whoever reads or listens to the gem like hymns praising the splendor of Goddess Sri Annpoornna with intense devotion and faith  would attain prosperity, abundance of grains, wealth, supreme knowledge and wisdom, ultimately liberation from repeated births.”
