Sri Meenakshi Sthothram by Sri Adishankaracharya – Lyrics and meanings

I shall meditate upon Goddess Sri Meenakshi who is the personified as Srividhya, she has acquired left half of Lord Shiva, she is worshiped by deities and Rishis, she has various glorious incarnations, she dwells in the sacred Chinthamani Peedam, she is eulogized by Goddess Saraswathi, Goddess Sri Mahalakshmi, Goddess Sri Girija, she is Shambavi and Srishiva as well, she is the daughter of Malayadhvaja, I shall earnestly pray to Goddess Sri Meenakshi to protect us.    I shall meditate upon Goddess Sri Meenakshi who dwells in the sacred Srichakra, she is Chapala/unstable, she is the Goddess of the Universe/Jagan Nayika, she is worshiped by all the deities, she continuously showers her auspicious gaze on the distressed people, she is the safe haven for the people who prostrate before her, she has large high raised bosom, she is the symbol of wisdom and knowledge, she is eulogized by Vedas and Upanishads, she has the luster superior to the lightening, she is compassionate and kind hearted, I shall earnestly pray to Goddess Sri Meenakshi to protect us.  I shall meditate upon Goddess Sri Meenakshi who is decked in marvelous crown, armlets, gem studded ear rings, etc.. she is wielded in bow and arrow, her high raised large bosom is decorated with the various precious ornaments and pearl garlands, she has marvelous anklets decked on the lotus feet that makes jingling noises, she is King of birds/Garuda to the serpent like poverty of her devotees,   I shall earnestly pray to Goddess Sri Meenkashi to protect us.   I shall meditate upon Goddess Sri Meenakshi, who is eulogized by Lord Bhrama, Lord Vishnu and Lord Maheshwara, she is surrounded by Ganas, she is wielded in Pasham, Angusham, spear, bow and Arrow, she is Bala/child form, she has beautiful eyes resembles to the eyes of deer, she has supreme brilliance of numerous Adithyas, she is decked in crescent moon on her attractive long curly hair locks, she is worshiped with various sacred Mudra/gestures, she is the daughter of Sage, I shall earnestly pray to Goddess Sri Meenakshi to protect us.   I shall meditate upon Goddess Sri Meenakshi who is eulogized by Gandharvas, deities, Yakshas, Pannagas etc.. she is the darling of Lord Gangadhara, she is personified as Goddess Gayathri, she has Garuda as her celestial vehicle, she is personified as Goddess Sri Mahalakshmi, she has the complexion of dark clouds, she is eternal, she is omnipresent, she is numerous Adithyas to the wicked people, she is worshiped with sacred hymns, she is the daughter of Sage, I shall earnestly pray to Goddess Sri Meenakshi to protect us.   I shall meditate upon Goddess Sri Meenakshi, Oh! Nadhe, she is worshiped by Maharishi Narada with melodious music on his string instrument/Thumburu, she is Nithya/eternal, she has the luster of blue lily, she is the symbol of Nadhabhramam, she is Kantha/lustrous, she is the symbol of amorous sport, she is the consort of Lord Kameshwara, she is the provider of boons to her passionate devotees, I shall earnestly pray to Goddess Sri Meenakshi to protect us.  I shall meditate upon Goddess Sri Meenakshi who takes immense pleasure in the melodious sounds of Veena, she has beautiful long curly hair locks that spreads all over, she has crimson colored lips due to the consumption of betel leaves/Thamboolam, she is decked in beautiful gem studded ear rings and various precious ornaments all over her body, she has the complexion of blue lily, she is decked in crescent moon on attractive hair locks, her forehead is beautifully decorated with vermilion, she is flawless, her face has the luster of full moon, I shall earnestly pray to Goddess Sri Meenakshi to protect us.   I shall meditate upon Goddess Sri Meenakshi who is the symbol of Shambdhabhrama Mayi/sounds, she dwells as Prana in all the living beings/Characharamayi, she represents supreme brilliance/Jyothirmayi, she is the symbol of flawlessness in speech and construction of words/Vagmayi, she is the symbol of eternal bliss/Nithya Anandhamayi, she is the symbol of all the philosophies, she is  eternal, she is beyond description, she is great illusionist and she is the representation of wealth and prosperity,  she is the provider of all the auspiciousness to her passionate devotees, she is the consort of Lord Sadhashiva, I shall earnestly pray to Goddess Sri Meenakshi to protect us.
