Apadhuddharana Hanumath Sthothram by Vibheeshana Rishi – Lyrics and meanings

Apadhuddharana Hanumath Sthothram was composed by Vibheeshana Rishi, it has Anushtup as Chandhass/metre, and it is recited to please Lord Hanuman.


I shall meditate upon supreme Lord Hanuman who is the son of Anjana Devi, he has colossal mountain on the left hand which is capable to destroy the enemies and Dangam on the right hand, he has supreme brilliance, and he is decked in Yajjasoothra, various ornaments and ear stud.   I shall surrender to the supreme Lord Anjaneya, who is decorated with Mounji, Anjinam, Upaveetham, Peethakoupeenam, Anguli, attractive ear stud, Shikha, and gives out the impression of flawless Bhramachari.  I shall prostrate before Lord Hanuman, who  is the protector of all the living beings from  the perils and he is the destroyer of grief and sorrows, he destroyed the intense pain and sorrows of Lord Rama due to the separations from his consort Seetha.   I shall prostrate before Lord Anjaneya who is the destroyer of Adhi/worrie, Vyadhi/ illnesses, distress, Mahamari/ chronic illnesse,  Grahapeeda/evil effects from the changes in the position of planets, he is the annihilator of demons, he is the protector of living beings.   I shall prostrate and surrender to the lotus feet of  Lord Hanuman who is the protector of living beings who are extremely distressed in the whirlpool of Samsara, he is the protector of the people who are aimlessly wandering in the wild woods and unknown worlds/Kingdom, he protects them from dangers of  wild animals and thieves.   I shall prostrate before Vathathmaja/son of Lord Vayu and Anjanadevi, I shall surrender to your lotus feet kindly protects us, he is an ardent devotee of Lord Rama/Rameshtam, he is the symbol of compassion/Karunapoornam, he is the destroyer of fears and enemies, he fulfills the desires of his ardent devotees.

Whoever meditate upon supreme Lord Hanuman/Anjanasutham/Son of Anjana Devi in the early hours of dawn or dusk/hours of Pradosha would be blessed with wealth and eternal fame, whoever sincerely meditate upon Lord Hanuman during the difficult hours in the prison, or while conducting journey or in the war field, or during conflicts would be well protected with the grace of Lord Anjaneya.  I shall prostrate before supreme Lord Hanuman who has the stature of diamond, he is Kalagni Rudra, he has supreme radiance and capable to resist the most powerful Bhramasthra and I shall prostrate before Lord Sri  Rudra Moorthi.  The above sacred verses should be recited before the assembly of King and people, and on the dais of debate.  Whoever recites or listens to the sacred hymns would be relieved from all kinds of sins.  Oh! Markadesha/Lord of Monkey, Oh! Mahothsaha/highly enthusiastic, Oh! Sarvashoka Vinashaka/destroyer of grief and sorrows,  Oh! Shathrusamharaka/destroyer of enemies, I shall surrender to your lotus feet, kindly protects us with your eternal presence.

Sri Hanumath Sthothram – Lyrics and meanings

I shall meditate upon Lord Hanuman/Vathathmaja, son of Lord Vayu who has the brilliance of crores of Adithyas in early morning hours, he is attractive and highly enthusiastic, his lotus feet is worshiped by Sugriva and numerous monkey warriors, he terrifies the clan of demons with his boisterous voice, he is immersed in the meditation of supreme Lord Rama.  I shall meditate upon Lord Hanuman who is seated cross legged, his left hand   placed on the left knee, and right hand on Gnanamudhra posture which is placed close to heart, he is surrounded by Rishis and Sages, he is immersed in deep meditation by fixing eyes on the tip of the nose, he has the brilliance of crores of Adithya of early morning hours, he dwells in the magnificent Kadhalivanam, I shall earnestly pray to Lord Hanuman to purify our hearts.   I shall prostrate before the son of Lord Vayu, who has reddish brown colored eyes and hair, his body has crimson color, he has the brilliance of crores of Adithya in the early morning hours hence it is impossible to witness him, his nails and teeth has the luster of full moon that removes the darkness of the surroundings.   I shall meditate upon Lord Hanuman who has crimson colored eyes due to extreme anger that resembles to colossal fire which is capable to burn the venomous serpents and thieves, he has supreme brilliance and magnificent stature of majestic Mount Meru, his face, ears and legs are crimson colored, he has fierce sharp teeth, he is the son of Lord Vayu and Anjana Devi.  I shall prostrate before Lord Hanuman/Vanaraja, who has the radiance of precious molten yellow metal, he is the destroyer of fears, his two palms are joined and placed near chest, he is decked in magnificent ear studs that well suited to the lotus like face of him, and he is beyond description.   I shall meditate upon supreme Lord Vanaranayakam/monkey warrior, who has the complexion of precious molten yellow metal, both the palms are folded and placed on the chest; he is decked in magnificent crown and ear stud.   I shall meditate upon supreme Lord Anjaneya who has crimson colored face and stature of Mount Meru, he dwells under the tree of Parijatha, and he is the son of Lord Vayu.

I shall prostrate before Bhargava Rama/Sri Parashurama who is Ramapathi/consort of Goddess Rama, decked in magnificent crown, he is charismatic, he is wielded in bow on right hand and fierce weapon Parashu on the right hand which is capable to protect the deprived and destroy the wicked, he has supreme brilliance, he is eulogized by the deities, he is eternal.  Victory to Bhargava Rama who has intense luster which spreads serenity to Bhramin and fear to the evil Kshathriyas, he has beautiful smile on his face, he has supreme brilliance of Adithya, and he resembles colossal fire, he carries fierce weapon Parashu to destroy the wicked Kshathriyas, he is supreme ascetic with attractive matted hair locks, he has the luster of lightening and he is prominent in Yajjasoothras.

I shall meditate upon Lord Sri Lakshmi Nrusimha who reclines on the serpent bed in the milky ocean, he is wielded in divine wheel/Chakrapani, soaked in intense luster from the gem studded hood of serpent Anantha,  he is  Lord of Yogis/Yogeesha and ultimate object of the Yogis, he is eternal/Sashvatha, he is the safe haven of his devotees/Sharanya, he is capable to guide his devotees from the whirlpool of ocean of Samsara, Oh! Lakshmi Nrusimha, I shall surrender to you, kindly protect us with your glorious hands.  I shall meditate upon Lord Sri Lakshmi Nrusimha, whose lotus feet shines in the sparkle of gem studded magnificent crown of Lord Bhrama, Lord Indhra, Lord Rudra, Maruthganas, Lord Aditya and all the deities, he is the Rajahamsa on the lotus flower like high raised bosom of Goddess Sri Mahalakshmi, Oh! Lakshmi Nrusimha, I shall surrender to you, kindly protect us with your glorious hands.  I shall meditate upon Lord Sri Lakshmi Nrusimha, Oh! Murare, I am completely worn out of the repeated birth and deaths in the wild woods of Samsara, recklessly beaten by the wild animal like Kamadeva, tortured by the  scorching heat of everlasting desires and struggles, Oh! Lakshmi Nrusimha, I shall surrender to you, kindly protect us with your glorious hands.  I shall meditate upon Lord Sri Lakshmi Nrusimha, Oh! Deva, I am completely exhausted after falling into the dreadful unfathomable well of Samsara, I am totally worn out of awful serpents like intense grief and sorrows, I am completely helpless and pathetic, I shall surrender at your lotus feet, Oh! Lakshmi Nrusimha, kindly protects us with your glorious hands.  I shall meditate upon Lord Sri Lakshmi Nrusimha, I am completely worn out by the frightening clutches of Kala, my body is traumatized by the powerful waves like various Ragha Dhvesha, Oh! Lakshmi Nrusimha, I shall surrender to you, kindly protect us with your glorious hands.  I shall meditate upon Lord Sri Lakshmi Nrusimha, Oh! Dhayalo/compassionate, I am completely exhausted by climbing through the tree of Samsara which bears sinful seeds, that has branches of endless Karma, leaves of Indhriyas, flowers of emotions and desires, and sorrows as its fruits, Oh! Lakshmi Nrusimha, I shall surrender to you, kindly protect us with your glorious hands.  I shall meditate upon Lord Sri Lakshmi Nrusimha, Oh! Shoure, I am completely worn out and troubled by the fierce teeth of venomous serpent like Samsara, Oh! Nagarivahana/who has enemy of serpents Garuda as celestial vehicle,  Oh! Sudhabdhinivasa/ who dwells in the milky ocean, Oh! Lakshmi Nrusimha, I shall surrender to you, kindly protect us with your glorious hands.  I shall meditate upon Lord Sri Lakshmi Nrusimha, I am worn out and completely burnt in the colossal wood fire from the world of Samsara, I shall surrender to your lotus feet which is the lotus pond, Oh! Lakshmi Nrusimha, kindly protects us with your glorious hands.  I shall meditate upon Lord Sri Lakshmi Nrusimha, Oh! Jagannivasa, I am trapped into the hazardous net of Samsara, besieged by intense passion and various worldly matters like a fish on the net, with broken head Oh! Lakshmi Nrusimha, I shall surrender to you, kindly protect me with your glorious hands.  I shall meditate upon supreme Lord Sri Lakshmi Nrusimha, Oh! Sakalarthinasha/destroyer of worldly matters and grief, I am totally depleted and beaten by the trunk of untamed elephant like Samsara, I am in my death bed with intense pain, Oh! Lakshmi Nrusimha, I shall surrender to you, kindly protect me with your glorious hands.  I shall meditate upon Lord Sri Nrusimha, Oh! Prabho, I am completely worn out by the constant attack of powerful thieves like Indhriyas, eventually  lost all my wealth like wisdom and intelligence; I have become blind and shoved off into the bottomless well like desires, Oh! Lakshmi Nrusimha, I shall surrender to you, kindly protect us with your glorious hands.   Oh! Lakshmipathe/consort of Goddess Sri Mahalakshmi, Oh! Kamalanabha/who has lotus flower on his navel, Oh! Suresha/Lord of Lords, Oh! Vishno, Oh! Krishna/who has dark complexion, Oh! Madhusoodhana/who is the slayer of demon Madhu, Oh! Pushkaraksha/lotus eyed, Oh! Bhramnya, Oh!
