Sri Balamukundashtakam – Lyrics and meanings

|| Jai Sriman Narayana ||

I shall meditate upon Lord Balamukunda who is in Yoganidhra/recline posture on the banyan leaf; he has lotus flowers like hands which holds lotus like feet and shove his toe into the lotus flower like mouth.  I shall meditate upon Lord Balamukunda who is reclining on the center part of the  banyan leaf and draws the whole world towards him,  he is eternal, he has no beginning or end, he is the Lord of the Universe and its living beings; he has numerous incarnation for the welfare of the Universe and its living beings.  I shall meditate upon Lord Balamukunda who is the wish fulfilling tree to his passionate devotees who are surrendered to him, he has the complexion of blue lotus flower, he has attractive limbs, and his lotus feet are worshiped by Lord Indra and deities.  I shall meditate upon Lord Balamukunda who has beautiful curly hair locks decked in fresh alluring flower garlands, his attractive smile wth the magnificent row of teeth which entice for amorous sport, he has attractive lips resembles to Bimba fruits, he has wide beautiful eyes.   I shall meditate upon Lord Balamukunda, who steals the vessels of milk and curd stored on the top of the frame while the cowherds are not in home, he consume all those milk and curd at his hearts content and pretends to sleep.  I shall meditate upon Lord Balamukunda, who merrily danced on the hoods of venomous serpent Kaliya holding its tail on his hands, living in the waters of Kalindha/Yamuna. His face has the luster of autumn moon.  I shall meditate upon Lord Balamukunda who is a little hero was tied to the mortar pastel, later with all his strength uprooted the huge Arjuna tree as a part of childhood pranks, he has wide beautiful long eyes resembles to lotus petals.  I shall meditate upon Lord Balamukunda who stares at the face of his mother with his lotus flowers like eyes while consuming milk from her bosom, he is absolute pure consciousness, and he is divine and eternal.
