Bhagavan Manasa Puja by Sri Adishankaracharya – Lyrics and Meanings

I shall meditate upon supreme Lord Krishna and conduct veneration in my heart, he has beautiful curly hair locks that has the resemblances to dark clouds, his eyes has the appearance of lotus flower, he is decked in Vanamala/fresh alluring flower garland, he is decorated with crown, bangles and various ornaments, his attractive face has the luster of autumn moon, he is surrounded by cowherds, he has supreme brilliance and play melodious music in his divine flute.


I shall meditate upon supreme Lord Krishna, Oh! Bhagavan, I shall earnestly pray to you to relocate in my heart from the milky ocean, Oh! Hare, I shall prepare various gem decorated throne for you to be seated, I shall wash your lotus feet which has the symbol of lotus and divine wheel with the sacred water.  Oh! Muraripo, kindly accept the arkhyam made with soft and tender grasses.


I shall meditate upon supreme Lord Krishna, Oh! Upendhra, kindly accept the icy as well as sacred waters of Ganga from the abode of deities for Achamanam, Oh! Parama who removes the sins of your devotees, kindly accept the five types of fruit extracts for your ablation, I have collected sacred waters from Akasha Ganga and river Yamuna in golden vessels for you, kindly accept the same for your sacred bath and Achamanam.


I shall meditation upon supreme Lord Krishna, Oh! Lakshmikantha, who is the younger brother of Balarama, capable to destroy the sins of your devotees, kindly accept the two majestic clothes that have the resemblance to lightning and Upaveetham/soft sacred thread.  Oh! Hare, kindly accept the superior scented sandalwood paste mixed with Kasthuri to apply on your forehead, kindly accept the fresh alluring flower garlands made of Tulsi and lotus to decorate your body.


I shall meditate upon supreme Lord Krishna, who provides abundance of boons to the virtuous people; I shall offer the superior aromatic Dhoopam on your lotus feet, Oh! Lord Krishna who has the luster crescent moon, I shall meditate upon your dazzling face in the light of Deepam, Oh! Lord Krishna who is eulogized by Lord Bhrama, kindly cleanses your hands with the superior scented camphor mixed water and accepts the water.


I shall meditate upon supreme Lord Krishna, who is the son of Yasodha, I have prepared sumptuous meal with all the superior ingredients and served in the golden plate along with a bowl of superior ghee from cow, kindly accept the above at your hearts content.  Kindly include your closest associates who are keen to consume your prasadham, and finally drink the water.



I shall meditate upon supreme Lord Krishna, Oh! Hare, I have prepared superior quality of Thamboolam to cleanse your mouth after the meal, kindly accept the superior fruits with rich aromatic, I shall conclude the worship with the offerings of various gems and gold along with the Harathi.


I shall meditate upon supreme Lord Krishna, I shall offer various fresh alluring flowers like Bilwa, Tulsi etc…I shall venerate you with the various flowers on your head which provides immense pleasure to me.  Oh! Vishnu, I shall earnestly pray to provide me liberation from repeated births I shall circumambulate you and in this way I shall purify myself from the sins.


I shall meditate upon supreme Lord Krishna, Oh! Bhagavan, I shall perform Ashtanga Namskar before you, that is capable to destroy all the sins, Oh! Lakshmikantha, kindly accept my offerings in the form of Nruthyam, Geetham and recital of hymns, let it make you extremely pleased.  I shall prostrate before you.  If you find any negligence in my offerings, kindly rectify the same and make it perfect.


I shall meditate upon supreme Lord Krishna who is most deserved to be worshiped, he has the complexion of dark clouds, he carries curd rice, or butter or divine flute in his hands, and he is fond of playing with the cowherds of his age, he finds immense delight in the amorous sport with the girls of cowherds.
